Chris Brogan on Anywhen

It’s a beautiful idea, and like all beautiful ideas, we have to protect it from abuse.

Specific to qualitative research:
How do you handle anywhen during an online bulletin board? When traveling with your client team? How do you encourage clients to protect their anywhen while on the road? This last is particularly important to the effectiveness of qualitative overall. If an e-mail has to be answered within the hour, that’s at least 1/6th of that hour that the answerer isn’t paying attention to the consumers they’ve spent money to find and listen to. Of course, there are lots of issues that cascade from that—questions that have been asked and answered, juicy quotes that get missed, consumers who get disrespected because their back story was told during a side conversation and now what they're saying doesn’t make sense out of context.

Respect for anywhen isn’t just a defense of personal time, it’s effective business practice. Help me preach it.
